The white picket fence and flower filled garden invite us into the kind of home beloved of older people: peaceful, cottagey, and perhaps reminiscent of earlier times when the world moved more slowly.

Noting the antique door knocker, we step across the threshold into a small vestibule, then into a surprisingly spacious lounge / dining room. We feel instantly that this lovely room is the heart of the home: the balanced design, rectangular in shape, gives a sense of comfort and relaxation. Quiet shades with matching carpets underline the peaceful ambience. Wood framed sliders give onto the tiled patio, with views of the ocean.

The enclosed, renovated kitchen is a joy to work in: with a laminated wood floor and creative use of raw wood for sturdy shelving. The units are white with black granite worktops, integrating a double sink and five hob gas cooker.

A coffee station leads off and into a large, tiled double garage, which incorporates the laundry and cupboard units. There is also a drying yard.

Along the passage to the bedrooms, where we first admire the main bedroom: large and light, en suite with a full bathroom. The bonus here is a private sunroom giving onto the patio, and spacious enough to be used as a combined lounge and study.

The second bedroom has a large window with a sea view, while the third bedroom overlooks the treed part of the garden. Both have built-in cupboards and share a full bathroom. All the bedrooms are carpeted.

An inverter supports power usage when needed.

Being a double stand, the garden is larger that usual and is nicely tended with a lawn surrounded by shrubs and flowers, as well as the stand of trees to the rear of the property.

Glen Eden is an established community, with freehold ownership available to the over 55s. It is a pretty village where all properties are surrounded by their own gardens, tended by the estate gardeners. Primary health care is provided on site, and a Mediclinic is next door. The clubhouse is regularly used for movies, bridge, parties and other activities which draw people together in friendship. Centrally situated, shops and amenities are less than a five minute drive away.
