The Garden Route is 'Plett Summer' ready with 6 blue flag awards for 2021-2022

The anticipation of a Plett Summer always induces a sense of nostalgia with long days at the beach, dinners by the sea and incredible pink and orange sunrises and sunset.

Voted Africa's Leading Beach Destination by the World Travel Awards in 2020-2021, and having a steady award of Blue Flags, Plettenberg Bay is a shining example of a town coming together to understand the importance of creating an eco-friendly tourism destination.

"The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world's most recognised beach, marina and sustainable tourism operator campaigns that recognises the commitment to stringent environmental, educational, safety and accessibility criteria. As a world-class beach destination, we share this excitement with key role-players who are committed to maintaining our Blue Flag status. This includes the Bitou Municipal beach development team, our marine activities and conservation initiatives. It is such a pleasure to be able to share our most valuable asset with the world," says Patty Butterworth, CEO Plett Tourism.

Plettenberg Bay has been awarded 6 Blue Flags for beaches for the 2021-2022 season. This includes Robberg 5 (12th year), Keurboomstrand (10thyear), Nature's Valley (9th year), Lookout (7th year), The Dunes (5th year) and The Singing Kettle beach (4th year).

Keurboomstrand also received a special award for having reached 10 years of Blue Flag status!
